Dr. McAfee |
Dr. Moriconi began his practice in 1983, in the Huntingdon Valley area. After several years of solo practice, he joined his practice with Dr. Chester McAfee, a well known oral surgeon at Abington Hospital. Dr. McAfee had spent years developing and administering the Dental Training Program at the hospital.
This program trains 3 graduate dentists each year to become even more proficient and expert in all areas of general dentistry. Dr. McAfee was a highly skilled oral surgeon and administrator, having spent almost 35 years devoting his life and skills to his patients and the practice of oral surgery.
He was Chief of the Dental Division for over 30 years, retiring in 1987. He enjoyed a number of years of retirement, until his passing in 1992. The new dental facility at Abington is dedicated to his memory.
Dr. Moriconi has continued the tradition and practice of Dr. McAfee by introducing more of the highly specialized procedures of the modern Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon at Abington Hospital. He was the first to perform orthognathic , TMJ , and bone graft surgical procedures at the hospital and has expanded the Dental Residency Program by attracting highly qualified local Dentists and Dental Specialists to teach there. In 1988, he was appointed Surgeon-in-Chief of the Dental Division and Program Director of the Dental Residency Program.
